5 Reasons to Come to Pet-A-Palooza this weekend

This will be our fourth year at Calgary’s most entertaining and good-energy pet festival – Pet-A-Palooza.

Did you know Pet-A-Palooza has been in Calgary six years and brings around 8,000 to 10,000 people and their dogs each day of the event?

We love this festival because it is outdoors, in the heart of Calgary and most importantly it has tons of great things for you and your dog to do. But what we love the most is how much fun everyone has at this event and meeting so many great dogs and their people. We jumped on board this year as major Sponsors because we are such big fans of this event. We will have lots of treats on hand so please stop by our booth, which is in the cul-de-sac around the dog race track.

We hope to see you there, so here are our 5 most convincing reasons to check out Pet-A-Palooza this Saturday or Sunday, or both.

1) Good (not-so-clean) fun for humans and canines

This year Pet-A-Palooza has created a super fun and messy mud run for people and their dogs. The 125-foot course starts with obstacles and ends with an epic mud ball pit.

A cold-hose shower station will be on hand to allow you and your dog to rinse off, but come prepared to get seriously dirty if you and your pooch join Ruff Mud. The person and their dog with the fastest time at the end of the two days will win a prize package worth $2,000. We loved the idea and are a Sponsor of Ruff Mud!

2) The Day of the Dog

Pet-A-Palooza is all about YOUR dog! There are fun areas all over the grounds for your dog to check out, tons of samples and free treats and a cool-off station to ensure your dog doesn’t get overheated.

There are three races this year so if you have a wiener dog, English bulldog, French bulldog or a puppy under six-months-old of any breed, can enter the races. The Puppy Stampede, for dogs six-months and younger their race will be Saturday at 2 p.m. The bulldog race will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. Race registration will be at the Sleep Rover booth.

3) Dogs Optional

If your dog has any health concerns, doesn’t do well around other dogs, or gets anxious in crowds, then Pet-A-Palooza isn’t for them, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t for you. There are tons of things for humans to do, see and learn about.

We will have our vets and staff available to talk to you about any questions you have about your pets. You can meet our two vets, both who would love to get to know you and your pets. There are also almost 100 vendors in the areas of pet health, diet, services, clothing and way more. And you won’t go hungry – there are food trucks on site and of course all the restaurants and pubs in the area, some with pet-friendly patios.

4) Dog Yoga

Do yoga with 15 adorable rescue puppies from Tails of the Misunderstood Canine Rescue Society and Jerry from Yoga and Beyond will lead the practice.

5) Do Good/Feel Good

Pet-A-Palooza is a huge supporter of rescue groups and other not-for-profit pet-centred organizations. Twenty-two rescues, not-for-profits and charities will be on hand at this year’s event. You can meet the many amazing people who are helping Calgary’s pet population every day and find out how you can help them continue to do what they do.
