How do I know if my pet has arthritis?

The condition may present itself in different ways depending on the patient. Below are examples of the types of symptoms you can watch out for.

• Fatigue
• Wincing/visible pain when getting up or lying down
• Irritability when handled/petted
• Reduced mobility and/or agility
• Walking stiffly
• Swollen and/or stiff joints
• Weight gain
• Lack of appetite

How is arthritis treated in pets?

After the vet has diagnosed the type and severity of your pet’s arthritis, they can determine the best course of action. Treatment may include one or a combination of the following:

• Anti-inflammatory medication
• Supplements

• Laser therapy
• Rehabilitation (e.g. massage)
