Microchipping

Microchipping is vital for pet safety since it increases the chances of reunion if they become lost.

Microchipping ensures your pet has a permanent ID at all times throughout their life. They significantly increase your chances of reuniting with your pet if they ever get lost. To learn more about these devices, please call us at 403-615-8016.

When should I get my pet microchipped?

We recommend having pets microchipped while they are still puppies or kittens.

Do microchips tell me my pet’s exact location?

No. Microchips do not have tracking abilities. Instead, your contact information and your pet’s vital details are embedded into the chip. The microchip can be scanned by other veterinary hospitals and shelters using a handheld scanner if they find your missing pet. Once scanned, they can extract the embedded information and reach out to you. They will also be able to make accommodations for your pet based on the details in the chip. For instance, we can include medical information (e.g. diabetes, allergies) in the chip.

How much does it cost to microchip a pet?
